Flower City Tissue Mills has been in operation since 1906 and has been under contract with the IUOE since 1959. First organized under Local 71, Flower City Tissue is now one of Local 158’s oldest stationary contractors. With my recent visit, I talked with Thomas Nasso who’s been a member since 2016.

Thomas told me,

“I enjoy my job as a stationary engineer for many different reasons, one being the responsibility of my job, another the many things I learn each day from it, and as the lead engineer at my plant, I get to train the new employees and watch them progress. Being an engineer is a very fulfilling job with a comfortable living wage.”
