Pete McCullough has been a member of our local for 34 years.  He served as union steward at United Rentals for the last two decades, right up until his retirement in late March of this year (in his words, it was “time to hang it up”).

Fed up and underpaid in the late 1980s, he left the arduous open shop life in search of opportunity.  He landed a job at Albany Ladder in 1988 and was initiated into Local 106 (now 158) that same year.  Albany Ladder changed its name several times throughout the years and ownership came and went, but Pete’s membership with the Operating Engineers remained constant.

“It’s a good life, and I’ve made a good living,” Pete said as he reflected back on his career.  Now he gets to retire with dignity, and we hope he enjoys every second of it.
